OK, here we are; the season opening match for the Ohio State Women’s Golf (OSUWG)  team is upon us. The Buckeyes are one of eight teams participating in the East & West Match Play Challenge, being played at the Radrick Farms Golf Course in Ann Arbor, MI. Stroke play qualifier is Sunday (9/18/16) with two days of match play to follow.

Here’s the skinny on the event:

Field: Kentucky, Michigan (host team), Nebraska, Ohio State, #18 Oregon, Penn State, UC Davis, Wisconsin.

Course: Radrick Farms will be set up at 6,292 yards and play at par 72.

Format: Play 5, count 4. Sunday will consist of 36 hole (that’s a lot of golf) stroke play qualifier. The low four teams advance to the championship match play bracket. The other four teams play in the consolation match play bracket. Teams will additionally have a golfer participate as an Individual.

OSU Lineup: Jessica Porvasnik, Alex Wright, Rio Watanabe, Niki Schroeder, Jaclyn Lee, Zoe-Beth Brake (I).

You’ll notice that Katja Pogacar is not in the lineup. That’s because she is part of Team Slovenia in the World Amateur Team Championship event in Mexico. Freshman Alex Wright has earned a spot in this event’s lineup.

I’ll have round by round recaps over next few days. Please stop by.
