The Buckeye’s Women’s Volleyball team last week defeated Kansas State in a 17-15 thriller in Manhattan, KS. In the fifth and final set the Buckeyes were in need of a tremendous effort in order to pull off a victory. The no. 14 Kansas State Women’s team certainly were not showing any signs of slowing down either. The breakdown would be 25-20, 25-22, 22-25, 23-25, 17-15 in favor of the Buckeyes. There are now only 16 teams that remain in the original cluster in the road to a national championship which will lead back to Columbus.

The Ohio State University (22-12) is one of just 11 schools nationally to reach the NCAA Regional round at least five times since 2010 (`10-11, `14-16). This weekend on Dec. 9th the Buckeyes will meet up with a familiar rival – the Big Ten’s Wisconsin Badgers. They will be in Madison for this challenge.

The Buckeye’s women are now among the 16 teams remaining in contention for the 2016 NCAA title. The group will be sculpted down this weekend to the final four who will converge in Columbus, Ohio for the semifinals and finals next week (Dec. 15 & 17). The Buckeyes’ possible arrival home goes through the Madison Regional where OSU faces the 3rd seeded Badgers. Florida State and the 6th seeded Stanford will round out the Regional competition inside the UW Fieldhouse.

The Buckeyes will need all they can get from Taylor Sandbothe who was just voted to the All-Mideast Region squad on Tuesday (Dec. 6), selected by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). This is the third consecutive time that Sandbothe has been so honored. She had always been joined with teammate each year, for 2016 it is Taylor Hughes reaping All-Mideast Region honorable mention. Both Buckeyes are now eligible for the AVCA All-America Teams.

In an earlier season matchup with the Badgers the Buckeyes lost in St. John’s Arena on November 2, 3-0.

…That’s okay. Our Buckeyes are a force and have spun their demises around nicely, and at the right time. So in a soft yet rising chant let us say “In Taylor’s We Trust!” And off course, Audra, Madison, Valeria, Luisa, Camry, & Kylie too.

GO BUCKEYES! SEE YOU THERE!
