The Buckeyes are smiling, above, since they did not have to play in inclement weather. They are also smiling because they have to play only 54 holes of stroke play this week, not 72 holes.

The original 2nd round has been canceled, so everything accelerates by a day. Stroke play condenses to only 54 holes with the top eight teams advancing to match play starting Tuesday, May 23.

This does not hurt Ohio State at all. Now, all teams have 36 remaining holes to move into the top eight positions to qualify for match play. The Buckeyes sit in T-3rd. They are 3 strokes in front of the current 9th place team (Southern Cal). This Shortened event means there is less chance for some team trailing them to track them down from behind.

Here’s the scoop on the tournament, the course, the format, the competitors and 1st round results) as far as Ohio State is concerned)…
