Don Trump may apply Heinz Ketchup to his steak, but Ohio State applied Joshua Jackson-Ketchup to visiting Lehigh on Friday. Coming off a loss to FIU last Sunday, the Buckeyes righted the ship and moved their record to 2-1 on the season with a 2-0 win over Lehigh.
Joshua provided the night’s offense with his first two goals of the season. Joshua’s first goal came at the 18:09 mark to give Ohio State the lead not quite midway in the first period. His second, and “insurance” goal, as it turned out, was at the 38:23 mark to give the Buckeyes a 2-0 lead going into halftime.
Goalie Siegfried Parker recorded his second shutout of the season with two saves. Siegfried had some help, as you’d expect. Some from his defense (3 blocks) and some from his opponent (5 wide/high).
The above leads up to a “Congratulations, Coach Bluem”. The win over Lehigh was Coach John Bluem’s 200th career win at Ohio State. Well done, coach.
Offensively, the Buckeyes were very efficient with their limited attempts. Ohio State attempted five shots in the first half, not scoring until their 4th and 5th attempts. The persistence paid off. Converting two of five attempts is pretty damn impressive. In the 2nd period, Ohio State attempted only two shots, the last one being approximately midway through the period. At that point, Bluem turned the game over to his defense.
The Buckeyes host Wright State University on Monday September 4th. The match begins at 7:30 pm. This is a great way to wrap up your Labor Day weekend. Be there. If you can’t be there, catch the game on BTN Plus (check local listings).
